I have to say. Wow! We've had our Geotrax Christmas train for about 7 years or so. We pulled it out tonight and put in new batteries like always. But this year the engine just wouldn't run. I pulled up your article and after being sceptical...3 slams later the engine came to life! Thank you so much! My kids are so happy.
First win for 2016! Sounds and lights only after a long period of storage for our 3 units. I thought it was very strange that they would all have the identical problem even after putting in brands new batteries. Anyway a quick Google search and a bit of banding... Two of the trains came back to life by being tapped together, side to side. The third required a bit more convincing with a hard cover book!
That #3 worked! I'll be damned! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIs that crazy though?! Glad it worked for you.
DeleteThat is awesome. #3 definitely worked. Ty so much for the advice.

DeleteDo the lights on the remote control light up
DeleteTo be honest, I've never stopped to look at that. If the remote makes sounds, then you know it's working properly.

ReplyDeleteAnother skeptic converted! ;)
DeleteThanks for your interest and comments.
This fix worked for my Geotrax Christmas in Toytown train! I used a hammer and tapped the bottom of the train car.
ReplyDeleteInteresting twist. I never thought of using a hammer. It probably works just as well as slamming and would be a lot easier on the fingers.
DeleteThanks for sharing.
i was very skeptical, but tried step 3 and sure enough...fixed the geotrax engine. Thank you kindly sir for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI understand. I felt the same way the first time. Glad it worked for you!

ReplyDeleteGetting creative now, I see. Fixing two trains with one slam. Nicely done!
DeleteYou are fantastic! Thank you for this "complicated " fix! I've got 5 engines running now! Happy Mom!
ReplyDeleteFive engines! Wow, you must have quite the collection! Thanks for sharing your successes. Enjoy.
DeleteAny ideas on one that has no sounds on the remote, but the engine lights up?
ReplyDeleteTo me that sounds like a dead remote. There are ways to test that with the right electronic gear, but it's probably easier just to fine a new remote.
DeleteWhich engine is this for? I do have a few remotes available at GeoTraxPacks.com.
WOW!! You just saved me $$$$$$ Thank you sooo much!! my Wife and boys are Happy!! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! Crazy it worked for 2 out of the 3 engines!! My kids are so happy!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 trains. They each light up and the remotes work, but the wheels just don't spin. Please help
ReplyDeleteClick the link at the top of this post to see a possible solution.
ReplyDeleteTried all 3, 1 engine seems to now work on its own without the remote . The other 2 light up but wheels are not turning
DeleteJust keep trying. Most of the time it works, as you can see from the comments on the other site. Sometimes you just have to give up.
DeleteWow #3 worked in 2020. Crazy
